The Netflix Button

I’m calling it: This is a BFD. Early adopters have been streaming Netflix on their devices for years, but there are still too many TiVo and Wii users who don’t know how easy Netflix streaming is to set up and enjoy (I’m guessing Xbox and Blu-ray users are more likely to know and use the Netflix features, but I don’t have any figures to back that up).

Putting a Netflix-branded button on the remote puts movie streaming front and center. And according to PCMag, most of the big manufacturers will be incorporating the button into their Blu-ray remotes.

We’re one step closer to the death of discs.

Update: During Microsoft’s keynote right now, the company is announcing that they’re integrating Netflix and Hulu Plus with Kinect, for controller-free use. Even better!
