The sub-$100 digicam
January 5, 2011
What do you do when every phone has a decent camera, and you’re trying to sell a device that takes pictures and does nothing else? Boost the megapixels, drop the price, and hope people don’t realize that 10MP is WAY more than they need.
The Canon A800: 10MP for less than $100. But you can’t get Hipstamatic on it, it doesn’t have AR capabilities, no geotagging, and it won’t upload, email, or MMS your pics. I like Canon PowerShots, I’ve bought three of them, but I doubt I’ll buy a fourth unless it can make phone calls.
